I’ve just finished watching A Mighty Wind, and I rather enjoyed it. It’s about a folk music concert that is being organised in honour of a concert promoter who has recently died. It’s filmed in the style of a documentary, with interviews and such taking place with all of the musicians and people working to make the concert happen.
It’s a subtle comedy is how I would describe it. It doesn’t go out of the way to make you laugh, but carries you along for the ride. I did laugh out loud a couple of times, and enjoyed watching it from start to finish.
As such there are no stand out scenes in the film, so it would be hard to pick out my favourite moment. Certainly it’s worth a second viewing.
I find it hard to review this film as I would do others, other than to say I am glad to have (finally) watched it. Although not a big blockbuster, if you get a chance to see it, don’t say no.
Rating: 8/10
From the people that brought you ‘This is Spinal Tap’, ‘Best In Show’ and ‘Waiting For Guffman’ I might add.
You may (or may not) also be intested to hear there was no script for this film (or was it Spinal Tap), just a description of the characters, the main plot and then the actors adlibbed. Quality.

Another interesting fact is that the moaning woman heard through Mitch’s hotel room wall was voiced by Christopher Guest.
That was one of the moments I laughed. You have to listen closely but its hilarious!
